The Defriend Tool

Hello all you bloggers, livejournalers, facebookers, myspacers and secondworlders!

You all seem to be looking for a way to get rid of those contacts that you naively let into your most intimate and private spheres.

I noticed recently that even linkedin, which is supposed to be a tool for professionals, doesn’t allow you to permanently delete an invitation.

The best you can do is to archive the invitation. Skype is the same.

So how do we create a “defriend” lobby?

I happen to have a good marketing advantage – the domain defriend.com, which in fact I registered, because it is my surname (it actually comes from the Dutch De Vriend, meaning “The Friend”, and not the opposite as all you WEBsters would intend).

Anyway, irrespective of the main purpose of my website, I hope to put this advantage to the service of all you frustrated Web2 citizens, who can’t abide the fact that your most loathed enemies are still able to post comments right where it hurts the most.

What we need to do is create a petition. I will set up a forum in the near future and you can all add your names to it.

Once we have at least a million signatures, I am sure that the folk at Facebook and MySpace will sit up and listen.

In the meantime, just tell your friends to watch this space……..

Oh, and if you were wanting to find out more about what we do the rest of the time, you can just go straight to the home page.

By the way, this is me – Eli De Friend
